Open Question: Looking for scholarships for a charity trip?

I'm planning on going on a Power of One trip to either Thailand or South Africa this year or next, but the prices can be pretty ridiculous. I'm trying to find as many grants and scholarships as I can, but I'm not entirely too sure how to go about this. Any ideas? I think I might send out an email to my friends and family, but I don't want to be rude in asking for money. I also am thinking of asking around businesses, maybe even go to the airline itself.
