New Thailand Green Pit Viper Snake – Trimeresurus (Popeia) phuketensis

A new viper species was described in the Russian Journal of Herpetology recently – end of December. It is a green pit viper established in Phuket, hence the name. This new viper has venom similar in strength to the other green Thailand vipers, but the size is rather large – comparable to Pope’s Pit Vipers.
