One of Many Lodes at Suan Nok Bird Park

Suan Nok Bird Park, is located not far from the Buriram-Prakhonchai Highway, about sixteen kilometers from Buriram city and along the  Huay Talat Resevoir. This scenic park has continued to be a longtime favorite stopover for locals, children and tourists alike and a destination you should also include on your itinerary of places to visit the next time you find yourself in the Isaan Area. The fabulous resort is built amidst a setting of majestic groves of fruit and palm trees and flowering shrubs and beautifully manicured lawns and open play areas.

Currently the park is closed for repairs as it is  undergoing some major improvements in its grounds, equipment and facilities.

Two comfortable dormitories capable of accommodating 80 guests each are made available for student encampments as local schools are likely to hold their annual English or scout camps here. Occasional wedding banquests  are also catered here.

As you approach the main gate you will be pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the ornate bas relief sculpted tiles surrounding the main entrances and dispersed along the road to the restaurant and three story meeting center. Beautiful artwork adorns the facades of the main building and dozens of statues of dinosaurs, apes and cartoon heroes are everywhere. Even the quaint cabins are being upgraded.  Everywhere you look the gardens and sprawling grounds of the sanctuary have taken on an air of elegance. The landscape is certainly eye-pleasing and makes visitors feel truly relaxed and at peace.

New tile roofs are being added to each of the more than twenty air conditioned stone faced cabins which are designed in a rustic style.  Each of these cabins can easily accomodate up to three guests on their comfortable beds.  The VIP cabin which boasts the best view contains two spacious bedrooms and a large sitting room and massive porch area and all the other cabins which overlook the magnificent waterway are surrounded by immaculate gardens and giantic flowering  trees and are all equipped with private bathrooms and showers, with each bedroom containing two double beds as well as stone porches with tables and chairs where birdwatchers can recline to await the arrival of flocks of more than one hundred different species of birds which appear early in the morning and late in the afternoon for their feeding.

The zoo area is also receiving a makeover these days. Don't forget to bring your camera the next time you come to Suan Nok.
